on ponchos and cheap meals

live via: san francisco, ca

ahhhh, back in the bizzay! it seems that i have taken the bad weather with me. for the past 11 days everybody was going on about how incredibly sunny, hot, 70-degreesish it is in cali, and now it's HAILING! i never quite understood how a place with a climate that is too temperate for snow is able to have random spurs of ice pellets pummeling from the sky. walking five blocks in the demonic san francisco weather with my umbrella on its deathbed, i decided that soaked denim clinging onto your skin just isn't worth the fashion of it. i feel like i'm getting a lapdance from a rhinocerous.

so i have decided that if it's going to be raining for three months straight like it was last year...i'm bringing the poncho in style. quote me, son!! i give it a month before you start seeing shorties walking around east oakland with bape cloaks. game recognize game, baby...and just when you thought allover print couldn't get any more annoying...wait until you get ice grilled by a wannabe thug wrapped in a dollar-sign-studded moo-moo.

anyway, upon coming home, one of the first things i did was check my credit card statement, and it appears that adrizzle was acting waaaaaaaaay more baller than he actually was. going to the east coast and getting so faded that you start buying random white fratboys hennessey shots isn't necessarily the best financial plan for someone who's about to quit his job in a month. so i'm home for the next week or so before i vamoose to the midwest, and i'm strictly placing myself on a food budget. TRADER JOE'S ALL DAY ERRDAY!! for those of you who are thinking to yourself "oh, that's not that bad," try sustaining yourself for a month entirely on chard salad and goat cheese and then get back to me. shit gets crucial. and march is going to have to be that month, since i'm "chilling" and only taking one trip. i'm spending almost half of april in virginia and i'm going to need some skrilla in case my plan to survive by ganking apple pies from windowsills doesn't work out. (that's right, that was two mid-nineties slang terms in one sentence!)

so it's day one, and so far, based on the one meal i've had so far, it's working out pretty okay. given that having safeway clam chowder the day after returning from new england isn't a very good culinary decision, i did manage to stay under $5. and that's like, less than one swig of so-co.

--party on down to the drizzle beat.
