oh, jay!
I had a bliggityblast this past Saturday at St. Ignatius High School in Frisko on Saturday...iLL-Lit got up at the buttcrack of dawn to perform and do workshops. It's always different doing shows for youth--it's really then when you start questioning how dated your stuff is. I think the older you get, the more you allow people to keep saying the same shit.
Example: I was watching Leno last night, and he made an O.J. Simpson joke. O.J.! How long ago was that???? Yeah, given that he did tickle a couple of pickles with his new book, but for real?? That's riding on old material for a loooooooong time, Jay.
Speaking of Jay, can I just say that Kingdom Come is ittttttttt???!? Yeah, I know a lot of y'all disagree, and quite honestly I wasn't feeling it at all when I first listened to it. So either I was just about ready to climb out of my indie emo phase anyway, or Jigga's new album really grew on me. The only track I still can't get myself to feel is "Anything." I'm convinced that Usher had to unbutton his shirt in the studio when he was recording that hook. Jay probably went out to get coffee at that point.
So I'm here now, chillin in my living room, watching Jay-Z live in London with my roommate. I need to pack for New York. I'm soOooOo glad not matching is in again this season.
