Just Plane Wack

Last night in celebration of the upcoming Thanksgiving, we commemorated the early American frontiersmen by taking a ridiculously long time to get across the country.

The late flight at 4pm from New York was a refeshing balance from the butt-crack-of-dawn flights we usually take. The 2-hour layover in Chicago wasn't too bad either. Actually it seemed like it was smooth sailing for our 10:30pm arrival in Sacramento until around, say, 10:15, when the captain announced that the fog was too thick to land and that we were going to circle the airport for 20 minutes, and that it was "okay because we still have some fuel left." Gotta love that SouthWest.

So after taking us for a couple of loops, they announced that we were going to temporarily land in Oakland. "But Adriel, don't you live in Oakland? Doesn't that work out for you? Yes, if my car wasn't already parked in Sac :( Plus they weren't trying to let us get our luggage from the plane :*(

We land in Oakland, everyone's pissed, they start throwing snacks at us to calm us down. Dahlak, Nico and I start getting in a heated discussion about Israel and Palestine (probably not the best conversation to be having in a stalled airplane). The lady next to me started silently freaking out when the word "revolutionary" was tossed around.

Finally, they refuel the plane, say the sky's clearer, and shoot us back over to Sac, allowing me to pick up my car so that we can drive back to Oakland. Holla back at 20-hour commutes!

PS: In 20 hours we could've gone to Russia.
